The Mooresville Christmas Light Tour is all volunteer-led, and we're all about spreading Christmas cheer. From delighting children and adults alike with beautifully lit homes in our community, to financially supporting local nonprofits, we are bringing joy and hope to Mooresville, Indiana.
The Mooresville Christmas Light Tour is a free community event from Dec. 2 to 31, 2022. Residents and businesses across the town of Mooresville, Indiana, decorate with twinkling Christmas lights and outdoor decorations.
On December 2, the tour map will be available. We'll have printed maps for pickup at select locations in town, as well as a PDF to download on our website.
We invite everyone to grab a map, pack up your family and drive around our town to view stops on our tour. (Please drive-by only and don't park in driveways or block the tour homes and businesses.) Stops will be lit nightly at dark until 10 p.m., so you can enjoy the lights at your leisure on any night you choose!
The event is free, but we encourage you to donate to help our charities. Each stop has a special text-to-vote code, located both on the map as well as on their yard sign. Vote for your favorite stop(s) with $2 or more. Please be generous, because the funds raised go to our local nonprofits.
In 2022, our charities will again be Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation Elementary School PTOs (Parent Teacher Organizations) at Newby, Neil Armstrong, North Madison, Northwood and Waverly Elementary schools; as well as the PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship) at Mooresville Christian Academy. These organizations support several thousand students in our community as well as teachers and staff. Your donations will go a long way!
We hold a fund at the Community Foundation of Morgan County, a local nonprofit, to be transparent with our event expenses and track donations. Those wishing to make a larger donation as well as sponsors can make checks payable to the Community Foundation of Morgan County with Mooresville Christmas Light Tour in the memo.
History of our event
The Mooresville Christmas Light Tour began in 2019 when local resident Suni Johnson wanted to bring Christmas spirit to the town. She organized volunteers to recruit residents to decorate their homes, sponsor the event and build the map. With sponsorships and donations from the public, over $2,500 was raised to benefit local charities. In 2020, over $5,000 was raised and after event expenses, $1,500 each was donated to Churches in Mission, Boys and Girls Club of Morgan County and Peace Restored. We hope to donate more to charity each year.
