Registration is closed for this year. Please check back in fall 2024.
Registration is closed for 2023. Please read below to find out how to be a Tour Stop next year.
What do tour homeowners and business owners do?
First, register as a Tour Stop here on our website when registration opens in fall 2024. Next, Tour Stops decorate the exterior of your home or business with Christmas lights and decorations. Go all out with as many lights as possible! Think "Clark Griswold"! Please light your home or business nightly at dark until 10 p.m. A yard sign will be made available for pickup by Tour Stops to place in your yard (you will receive an email with pickup details). Last, encourage your family and friends to vote for your Stop!
Is there a cost to be a Tour Stop?
There is a $5 registration fee to be a Tour Stop, payable by cash only when picking up your new yard sign. Note that old signs will not be used, as we aren't doing the text voting this year. You will be emailed pickup instructions for the sign when registration closes.
Who will see my Tour Stop?
We will put your address on digital event map distributed publicly. New this year, we will also list your name (or you can remain anonymous) and a brief description of your display which you supply on your registration form. Anyone can find your Stop on the map and drive by to view your home or business. We ask that individuals not park in any driveways of our tour homes, but if you have street parking, someone may briefly park to view your home.
Is there a prize for best decorated stop?
Yes! In previous years, we have done a text voting system with donations to vote for your favorite home. To simplify our process, this year we are not doing text voting. Tour Stop votes will be via Google form by popular vote only. The top 3 houses will receive awards. This year we will have a first ($250), second ($150) and third place winner ($50). Winners will be notified in January.
How do people vote for my Tour Stop?
We will have a page on this website with a form for voting beginning on the first day of the tour. It is limited to 1 vote per person. It will be free to vote.
With no text voting, how will money be raised?
We are a volunteer-led event to benefit charities serving Mooresville, Indiana and surrounding areas. All funds raised from our event after expenses will be distributed to our chosen local nonprofits - in 2023, that will be Churches in Mission. With the rising cost of living, it is no surprise that food requests have increased in Morgan County by 150%. Funds raised this year will help provide additional food to our friends and neighbors.
The majority of money raised comes from sponsors. But with no text voting this year, we encourage you to donate directly to our Mooresville Christmas Light Tour fund at the Community Foundation of Morgan County. Please join us in helping raise money in Morgan County for those who need it most this holiday season.
Will my address qualify if I live outside downtown Mooresville, IN?
You qualify to participate in this event if your address is in Morgan County and it is part of Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation's service area (you do not need to have a student in school to participate). This includes Mooresville, some Camby addresses (including the southern part of Heartland Crossing) and some Martinsville addresses (Waverly area). If you are unsure of your eligibility, please email us at MooresvilleChristmasLightTour@gmail.com before registering.
Please read and download the Tour Stop Guidelines below to learn more about what it takes to be a Tour Stop.
